The BookCompanion app is available now in Apple App Stores around the world. It offers Predestination book series content and Tudor England history support.
Compatibility
The same app works on iPhones and on iPads, but your device OS does need to be fairly up to date; iOS version 18.
There is no Android version - I'm so sorry. However, I'm slowly adding some of the same material to my website, so please check that out.
Exciting content in the App
About each book from the series:
A description of each book, complete with insights into why I chose this historical event to base the book on.
The app contains several mini-games based on each book; Jigsaws, tile matching, and word search puzzles.
Significant locations from the story are identified on a map and listed with descriptions (see below).
The primary characters from each book are listed (see below).
Many of the chapters and scenes in the book are provided with AI imagined illustrations to complete your own imagination.
All the images (letters, maps, etc) that are contained in the books are also provided as additional material in the app, so you can inspect them in greater detail or easily refer to them while you are reading the book.
Each character:
An AI generated portrait is provided for each character. Some have small videos! Can you find them? Feel free to share your favourite images with your friends, so they can enjoy the series too.
For the actual historical characters, I provide a short biography, plus a link to Wikipedia if you want to dive even deeper.
For each character I have written some notes, giving you a secret window into my thinking about that character, why they are included in the story, where we are in their character arc, and whether I expect them to appear in future books.
Each location:
For each of the main story locations I provide a photo of the actual location, or an AI generated imagining instead.
You can see where the location is on the map - AND, if you allow it in your Profile in the app, you can receive a Notification when you are within several KMs of the location, alerting you to the possibility of a visit!
I provide some author's notes for each location, and list the characters that are active in that location.
Suggested Usage
Of course, you can use the app in any way you like, however one way is to have it open on your device while you are reading one of the series' books. This way you can refer to the character and location images as you go, or perhaps even read up on a character biography if you find them especially intriguing. You can also find the letters and maps (etc) that are contained in the books attached to that book's entry in the app, so you can easily and repeatedly refer to them. For example: While reading Predestination, you might have the sketch map of Oxburgh Hall open in the app.
Future enhancements
I'm constantly adding more information and more sections to the app, so make sure you check back often and turn on auto-updates on your device.
