{"id":942,"date":"2024-02-05T16:26:31","date_gmt":"2024-02-05T16:26:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.jadownes.com\/?p=942"},"modified":"2025-12-11T15:51:55","modified_gmt":"2025-12-11T15:51:55","slug":"resurrection-is-live","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jadownes.com\/blog\/resurrection-is-live\/","title":{"rendered":"Resurrection is Live!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n\n<p>Resurrection: The Heresy of a Jesuit,&nbsp; is the prequel to my Predestination series.<\/p>\n<p>It was published yesterday and will be available on all the normal sites (Amazon, Apple iBooks, Kobo, Barnes &amp; Noble, etc) within a day or two of this post.<\/p>\n<p>Resurrection is centred on the young John Dee&#8217;s visit to Paris (France) in 1550, where he gave lectures on the topic of Euclid&#8217;s mathematics. It describes a little of John&#8217;s backstory; how he learned herbology and alchemy.<\/p>\n<p>It also introduces the reader to the twin topics of the Society of Jesus (aka <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jesuits\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Jesuits<\/a>) and the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Spanish_Inquisition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Spanish Inquisition<\/a>&nbsp;(<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Spanish_Inquisition_(Monty_Python)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>The plot of Resurrection is also my homage to the classic 1930 novel <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Maltese_Falcon_(novel)\" title=\"Dashiell Hammett\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>The Maltese Falcon<\/em><\/a> by <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dashiell_Hammett\" title=\"Dashiell Hammett\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dashiell Hammett<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>In common with the other books in the series, the plot hangs around actual documented&nbsp;historical events:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>John Dee&nbsp;arrived in Paris&nbsp;on July 20, 1550.
